Automatically update page numbers

Dear phpdocx support team,

I have a question regarding updating page numbers in a merged Word document using phpdocx. Is there a way to automatically update the page numbers when downloading the merged document, without having to press F9 in the MS Word interface? Additionally, the page numbers are not in the header or footer.

Hello,

Due to limitations of MS Word, page numbers can't be updated automatically if they are not in headers or footers.

On https://www.phpdocx.com/api-documentation/word-content/insert-page-number-Word-document-with-PHP you can read this same information:

If the page number is not added to a header or footer the user may need to press F9 in the MS Word interface to update its value to the current page.
