    Removing symbols only

    Afternoon Guys,

    Is there a way to remove only the symbol leaving the word in place.

    I have created a template with a question and empty file to be replaced. I am pulling out both the questions from the document and outputting on a web page. 

    Once the questions have been answered I replace the empty fields with the answers and I need to remove the symbols from around the questions. Is there a way to do this. See example below

    %%Type of insurance policy:%%              $POLICY1TYPE$ 

    I need to remove the %% symbols from around the question leaving only the question and field.
